Our Story

Born from the Binder

CardhawkGrading didn't start as a business idea — it started as a frustration. As long-term collectors and dealers in vintage cards, we kept running into the same problem: getting cards graded by PSA from the UK was a minefield of customs paperwork, surprise VAT charges, expensive international shipping and opaque processes.

So we built the service we wished existed. CardhawkGrading is the grading arm of CardhawkUK — a business built over years of buying, selling and brokering high value cards, particularly in vintage sport. We understand the cards we're handling because we collect and trade them ourselves. That's not something you can fake.

We know the difference between a rookie sticker pulled from a cereal box and a card stored carefully in a binder since 1960. We understand why a PSA 10 isn't just about centring — it's about provenance, care, condition and print anomalies.

PSA only authorises a small, carefully selected group of dealers outside the USA. In the entire United Kingdom there are just six PSA Authorised Dealers — and CardhawkGrading is one of them. We are also the only PSA Authorised Dealer in Wales.

What does PSA authorisation mean in practice? It means your cards are submitted through an official, recognised PSA partner. It means we have a direct relationship with PSA and can handle upcharges, queries and issues on your behalf. And it means you have the confidence of knowing your submission is going through a properly vetted channel — not an unofficial intermediary.

Cards sent to PSA for grading and returned qualify for a specific customs classification that exempts them from import tariffs in both directions. We handle all the paperwork correctly — something inexperienced services frequently get wrong, leading to unexpected charges and delays.

We ship exclusively via FedEx and DHL — directly from our office to PSA and back. No PO boxes, no postal drop-offs, no third-party routing. Every parcel is handed directly to our courier by a member of our team and received back the same way. In 5+ years we have never lost or damaged a package.

While your cards are with us they are stored in our office safe. Cards are processed quickly — typically within 48 hours of arrival — so your collection spends minimal time in transit and in storage. Every card is handled with the same care we give our own.
